Proctor circuit race canceled
Sorry all. With great regret, the Proctor coaches have no choice but to cancel their race due to rain. Julie Tallman will be sending out trophies to the respective head coaches.
Thanks everyone for a great season nevertheless. You all do a wonderful job of introducing this sport to so many kids and you do more than you could know to create life-long healthy biking enthusiasts.
Let's hope for better weather for mt. bike season!

Proctor circuit race on Wed.
Hi all:
Although it's very much looking like rain again on Wednesday, Brooks at Proctor would like everyone to nevertheless send their rosters to brooks@proctornet.com just in case the forecast improves. Please include the kids' race numbers on your rosters.
If it's raining, the race will need to be canceled. If the race is indeed canceled, due to the fact that most teams cannot extend the season beyond this week, the current league standings will become the final standings and awards will be sent to the coaches.
Thanks and please look for an email update on Wed morning either confirming or canceling the race.
Peter

Racing schedule update
Coaches, here are a few updates on the race schedule for the remainder of the season:
1) Newfound (New Hampton) is on Wednesday, so please send your rosters to Julie Tallman at jtallman@newhampton.org if you haven't done so already.
2) There were not enough teams who could attend a rescheduled Gould RR this weekend, so there is no racing this weekend (May 14-15).
3) The final race of the series will be the rescheduled Proctor Circuit Race on Wednesday, May 18. All info on the currently posted race flyer is correct with the sole exception of the race date.
Thanks and see you all on Wed!

KMS CT Hill Climb TT info
Here's a link to the course for Wednesday's KMS Hill Climb Time Trial:
http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&hl=en&msa=0&ll=43.624644,-72.784424&spn=0.043305,0.07699&z=14&msid=217740871490079007113.0004a1bd810b9b7ed45c8
Please let me know if the link does not work.
Coaches, the first 2 miles of the course is the most severe and I'm telling my C riders to simply focus on finishing the course and that it's fine to stop and take a rest if needed.
Parents and helpers, if you haven't been given a specific job like registration, I would ask that you simply arrive at about 2:45 pm and use the Kton Access Road to drive up to the TOP of E. Mountain Road and then drive DOWN E. Mountain Rd until you come to an unmanned intersection with another road or driveway and then just park and man that intersection as a course marshall. Just keep going down the hill until you find an intersection that is not manned yet. Idea is to let motorists pulling out onto the course know there is a race in progress and don't let them enter onto the course until there is a safe gap between riders.
Race starts at 3:30 pm and riders will continue at 30 second intervals. The KMS team van will be behind the last rider on the hill, so once you see it, your job is done and you can head to the finish at K1.
As for weather, this race will not be canceled unless there are thunder and lightning STORM warnings. We will race despite thunderSHOWER warnings.
Thanks!

Another race canceled :(
Hi all:
It was a great disappointment to have our 2nd race of the series canceled due to yet more awful weather. Let's hope for some sun for the rest of the series.
One quick note. With both canceled races, there were teams well on the road when the cancelation was announced. This makes it difficult to receive an email notification. For this reason, I think it would be a good idea for the host school to call each head coach at the numbers listed for each team on the league website (right hand side of home page). It would not take much work to call each of the head coaches and I believe it would save a lot of wasted driving time.
BTW, I have updated all phone numbers based on each team's registration information, using the number for the main registered party, which should be the head coach of the team. Please take a moment to review the phone numbers to make sure they are accurate and kindly get back to me if any changes are needed.
Thanks and we're looking forward to seeing you all on Wednesday at Killington!

Exeter Cup Update
Hello Coaches,
This year the Exeter Cup will have two significant changes. The course is being moved off campus to a rural setting and the race will be an individual time trial. Our athletic complex is having a lot of construction going on this spring and the traditional course will not be safe. To keep things simple this year we have chosen to run the race as an individual time trial. We have a beautiful, flat, out and back course in the town of Newfields (Route 87) about four miles from campus.
The race will start at 3:00 PM with riders heading off on the 10 mile course every 30 seconds. More details will follow.

Holderness race remains ON
Hello coaches
The Holderness Road Race remains ON for today.
Road conditions are fine, and the rain (at the moment) is intermittent. Naturally, we would not race in dangerous conditions (high winds, local thunder/lightning), but that is a call that would be made just prior to the start.
Coaches meeting at 2:45. Riders meeting at 3:00. See everyone there.

Holderness weather conditions
From John Teaford:
Hello coaches
Holderness is preparing for tomorrow's race, and we thought we'd communicate our intentions in the event of poor weather.
Though the forecast is for rain (70% chance), at this time there is no reason to consider cancelling or postponing the race. If rain is falling at race time, we will race.
While the day is likely to be rainy, the forecast does not predict high winds, nor is there a high likelihood of thunderstorms. The race course is quite straight, so there is little worry about slippery corners. If conditions change to a point where racers are threatened with lightning and/or high winds, we are willing to postpone or cancel the race at the last minute. Obviously, we hope that won't happen.
We expect temperatures in the 40's, so all riders (and spectators) are advised to dress warmly. Bring extra layers for after the race.
If it is rainy and cold at the finish, we will not ask teams to remain in the area for presentation of awards (awards will be presented after the Gould race, if conditions allow).
We look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow.

Dartmouth collegiate race now includes high schoolers in mens and womens intro race
From the promotor:
I just wanted to make you aware; high school racers for our Dartmouth race day this Saturday are not only allowed to compete in the morning time trial in the appropriate HS category, but they are also able to register for the Dartmouth collegiate intro criterium.
Our flyer has just been updated to reflect this; a junior male racer can register for the Collegiate Men's Intro Criterium. Similarly, female racers can register for the Collegiate Women's Intro Criterium.
If you can pass this on to any high school racers and coaches, we think this will dramatically improve our Intro Races and be a boon to high school racers looking for some good experience!

Dartmouth TT April 16, 2011
Dartmouth needs numbers by April 7th for their planning/scheduling purposes, so please let them know the approximate number of riders you expect to bring or let us know if you do not plan to come. Please send your entry numbers to Kevin Lavigne at kevin.lavigne@dresden.us.
In terms of entry fees, $5/person and the cost of a USA cycling license (see note from Dartmouth cycling below).
Here is a link to the release form; please tell the other team coaches that their students must fill this out and have it signed by an adult before coming to the race: http://www.usacycling.org/forms/rider_release.pdf
Although Dartmouth can't accommodate a High School Category in their crit, we encourage schools to stick around after the TT to watch some great collegiate racing!
Here's the flyer:
In terms of entry fees, $5/person and the cost of a USA cycling license (see note from Dartmouth cycling below).
**The only issue we need to be aware of is that everyone participating at the event has to be under USA Cycling's insurance umbrella (which protects us in case someone gets injured), so we will need all the students to fill out a standard release waiver beforehand and have it signed by an adult. If students do not have a USA Cycling racing license, they will have to buy a one-day license for $10. I agree that buying a $10 license when the event only costs $5 is nonsensical, but unfortunately, it's the only way for us to avoid disciplinary action from the national sanctioning body. Dartmouth Cycling will not keep any of that money; it all goes to USA Cycling.**
