JUNIOR GEAR REQUIREMENTS

Please note that ALL competitors in our league are required to adhere to Junior Gearing Restrictions. In a nutshell, measure out 26' on the ground; put the bike in its hardest gear; spin the crank so the arms are vertical; walk the bike backwards.... the crank arm should NOT rotate more than one complete revolution (i.e. one complete pedal revolution should not push the bike further than 26').

The best gear combinations to use are 52 chain ring/14 smallest cassette cog, or 45 chain ring/12 smallest cassette cog.

Others can work but are smaller gears (spin out more quickly).

If the bike doesn't pass, you may also block out gears with the limit screw on the rear derailleur such that the rider doesn't have access to a gear that is too big.

Please send me an email about this if you have questions.

2014 NERCL TEAM REGISTRATION

To help defray the cost of race timing, the fee structure has changed this year. The new cost is $150 per school, PLUS $10 per athlete participating in the League. Thus, for a team with 10 athletes, the registration fee will be $250 for the 2014 season.

THE LINK IS NOW ACTIVE!

The 2014 league registration page is on bikereg.com. Team head coaches should click the following link to register their team and pay their league dues for the season:

The league dues satisfy the costs of the awards trophies as well as the timing services of Pioneer Event Services for all races.

***PLEASE NOTE, ONLY SCHOOL TEAMS MAY REGISTER, NOT INDIVIDUAL RIDERS***

The NERCL is open to school team registrants only, meaning all riders must take part under a school racing team competing under the guidance of an adult coach (who can be a parent of a rider). Any secondary school, whether public or private, is welcome to register for league competition by using this page. The head coach of the team (or parent) should enter his or her contact information as part of the registration process.

PLEASE NOTE THAT LEAGUE DUES MUST BE PAID BEFORE A TEAM WILL BE ALLOWED TO RACE (this is to prevent racers from showing up without coaches and racing without supervision)

Racing schedule adjustments

Hello Coaches,

We have made two adjustments to the racing schedule with the opening created by NHS's departure.

Profile will move their race into the vacated slot on Wednesday May 16th.

Exeter will move the TTT to Saturday May 12. (This allows us to get off the problematic SAT weekend on May 5)

Updated schedule and flyers will be posted on the website.

Thanks.

KMS TT spagetti feed

Coaches:

The flyer for the KMS TT is now posted on the league website (click on the race under the schedule section).   The Lookout Restaurant located just down the Killington Access Rd from the finish has been generous enough to offer a nice spagetti and meatball supper for us after the race for around $10/person, but it would only work if we can get enough people interested.   If we did have enough interest, we could send teams down there immediately after the race, get warm and have our awards ceremony during supper.   We could have them ready to go at 5:30 or so and we'd be all done with everyone on the road by 6:30 or 7 well-fed.   If coaches could please respond to me asap to let me know if you're interested, that would be great.  Thanks!

LAST EMAIL SENT TO OLD EMAIL LIST

Coaches:

I am please to report that, with our first race now less than a week away, we have the first three race flyers posted on the league website (www.prepschoolcycling.com)!

However, I am not so pleased to report that the majority of our teams have not yet registered for the league on bikereg.   Please take the time to do so as, without all teams registering and paying their dues, we won't have adequate funds to pay our timing service.

Please also note the new email list on the league website.  To send an email to all coaches, simply copy and paste that email list into your email recipient space and send away.  Just be aware that this list contains only those teams that have registered on bikereg, so please do register to be included!

PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS WILL BE THE LAST EMAIL NOTICE I SEND TO THE OLD LIST.  ALL FURTHER EMAILS WILL BE SENT USING THE CURRENT WEBSITE EMAIL LIST.

Thanks and we'll see everyone at Holderness on Wed!

The season is here!

Coaches:

Spring is now (really) in the air so it's time to start thinking about NERCL racing!   The list of races is up on the league website:  www.prepschoolcycling.com and we have an expanded season of eight races.  JD Bilodeau of Pioneer Event Services will again be helping us with timing this year at a reduced rate.  Thanks, JD!

With the first race coming up on April 25, it's crucial that all teams re-up on our bikereg page asap.  To get there, just go to the league website and click on the bikereg logo.

PLEASE NOTE:  Our now massive email list is growing increasingly obsolete.   The bikereg registration process allows us to have a complete and up to date email list of all the coaches each year.  I've updated the league website with a current email list based on the registrations we've received thus far.  After each new team registration, I will update the email list on the site so we'll always have a current list.  If any coach wishes to send an email directly to the entire group, simply copy the email list and paste it into your email recipient space and send away.

Lastly, we'll have the Holderness race flyer up on the league website very soon.  Just click on the race entry on the website for the flyer.   I'll also send an announcement when it's up.

Thanks!
