JUNIOR GEAR REQUIREMENTS

Please note that ALL competitors in our league are required to adhere to Junior Gearing Restrictions. In a nutshell, measure out 26' on the ground; put the bike in its hardest gear; spin the crank so the arms are vertical; walk the bike backwards.... the crank arm should NOT rotate more than one complete revolution (i.e. one complete pedal revolution should not push the bike further than 26').

The best gear combinations to use are 52 chain ring/14 smallest cassette cog, or 45 chain ring/12 smallest cassette cog.

Others can work but are smaller gears (spin out more quickly).

If the bike doesn't pass, you may also block out gears with the limit screw on the rear derailleur such that the rider doesn't have access to a gear that is too big.

Please send me an email about this if you have questions.

2014 NERCL TEAM REGISTRATION

To help defray the cost of race timing, the fee structure has changed this year. The new cost is $150 per school, PLUS $10 per athlete participating in the League. Thus, for a team with 10 athletes, the registration fee will be $250 for the 2014 season.

THE LINK IS NOW ACTIVE!

The 2014 league registration page is on bikereg.com. Team head coaches should click the following link to register their team and pay their league dues for the season:

The league dues satisfy the costs of the awards trophies as well as the timing services of Pioneer Event Services for all races.

***PLEASE NOTE, ONLY SCHOOL TEAMS MAY REGISTER, NOT INDIVIDUAL RIDERS***

The NERCL is open to school team registrants only, meaning all riders must take part under a school racing team competing under the guidance of an adult coach (who can be a parent of a rider). Any secondary school, whether public or private, is welcome to register for league competition by using this page. The head coach of the team (or parent) should enter his or her contact information as part of the registration process.

PLEASE NOTE THAT LEAGUE DUES MUST BE PAID BEFORE A TEAM WILL BE ALLOWED TO RACE (this is to prevent racers from showing up without coaches and racing without supervision)

10/27/10 New Hampton Race info

Hi All,

Thanks to everyone for a great season so far! Hopefully we will have a great finish at Burleigh Mountain. Here are the details (very similar to last year):

Wednesday, October 27

3:30 start.

Course is basically the same as last year, with some changes (I hope improvements) far from the start/finish; it is well-marked.

The gate will be open and you can park, register, and preview the course starting by 2:00 pm

Update your rosters on the web site.

A note about parking:

There is limited parking at Burleigh mountain. If you park in the grassy lot, please park carefully so as to leave as much room as possible for other vehicles.

If you (or a spectator associated with your school) arrive late, you may need to park on Gordon Hill Rd (the paved road). Please do not park anywhere on the dirt access road (New Hampton School does not own that road, and the landowner has complained in the past). Thank you.

Directions:

To get to Burleigh:

From the North, get off I-93 at exit 23, make a left off the ramp and an immediate right on Shingle Camp Hill Road (before you go under the interstate).

Take Shingle Camp Hill Rd less than a mile to a stop sign in front of a church (the campus will be on your right). Take a left on Rt 132; take this less than a mile to Gordon Hill Road. Take a right on Gordon Hill, drive to the top of the hill and take a left on the dirt road that says "Private road, right to pass by permission" or something like that. Go through the gate and park a little ways up in the grassy field on the right. The start finish area is a little ways past the parking area.

From the South, get off I-93 at exit 23, make a left off the ramp, go under the interstate and take an immediate left on Shingle Camp Hill Road. Follow the directions above.

From the East, drive west on 104 (from Meredith) until you pass under I-93 (a little after and Irving on the right and Duncan Donuts on the left). Immediately after going under the interstate take a left on Shingle Camp Hill Road. Follow the directions above.

From the West, drive east on 104 (from Bristol) until you come to a blinking yellow light by a fire station. Turn right on Rt 132 here. You will drive by the campus (it will be on your left). In less than a mile you will come to a white church. Keep going; less than a mile past this you will take a right on Gordon Hill Rd. Drive to the top of the hill and take a left on the dirt road that says "Private road, right to pass by permission" or something like that. Go through the gate and park a little ways up in the grassy field on the right. The start finish area is a little ways past the parking area.

Here’s the lap info:

Format will be:

A riders: 3 laps

B riders: 2 laps

C-G riders: 1 lap

Figuring about a 20 min lap plus or minus depending on the individual's speed. One of our fast guys did the lap in 15 minutes.. but it was a single lap....

The course will alternate between single track and then double track passing zones...

The start will begin on the open wood road to allow everyone ample time to find a safe position before entering into the single track...
